Explore the enhancements in safety and accessibility for the Milford community through Phase 2 of the Founders Walk project.

Overview of Phase 2 Improvements

What Phase Two Includes

Phase Two of Founders Walk introduces comprehensive infrastructure and park improvements that prioritize safety, accessibility, and long‑term resilience.

Major Improvements

  • A new riverwalk path along the Wepawaug River
  • 1,700 linear feet of new sidewalks
  • Six clearly marked crosswalks
  • Repaired sidewalks around the pavilion
  • Updated traffic flow near the library
  • A relocated and safer library book drop
  • A new fire hydrant closer to the boat ramp
  • 12 accessible parking spaces
  • Four EV charging stations, including one accessible EV space

Traffic and Parking Safety Enhancements

To reduce conflicts and accidents, the project includes:

  • Rerouting roads to eliminate dangerous traffic islands
  • Narrowed roadways to slow traffic
  • Speed Bumps
  • 40 Feet of Cobblestone Like Road, to slow traffic
  • Clearly designated areas for driving, parking, and walking
  • Improved signage throughout the park and parking areas

These changes significantly reduce blind spots, improve visibility, and create safer transitions for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

Phase Two includes:

  • Upgraded storm drainage systems
  • Improved outflow pipes
  • Reduced flooding risk to keep park areas usable and safe year‑round
